Stuart Macdougald-Denton, a Founding Partner, leads the Architecture, Structures, Façade and Fire Engineering expert teams internationally, based in London, UK. Stuart is an experienced testifying technical expert with more than 30 years’ experience in private architectural practice and main contracting across a wide range of building sectors.

Stuart has designed and/or delivered a diverse range of projects, including non-process buildings on oil refineries and an aluminium plant, the Stirling Prize-winning botanical sciences laboratories Cambridge, neurological sciences labs and other Further Education projects, 30+ PFI and academy framework schools, a recording studio, offices, cardiothoracic, A&E and mental health hospitals, residential and student accommodation, a 1480-cell prison, defence and retail projects.  Stuart has been extensively involved in reviewing Employer’s Requirements, value engineering solutions for tenders and developing D&B proposals for construction.  He also standardised the consultant appointment scopes and design responsibilities matrix, has rewritten pre-construction and construction processes, and developed strategies for the site application of BIM.

Over a period of 25 years, Stuart has prepared independent reports and given expert opinion (including in respect of Grenfell).  He has been cross-examined on eighteen occasions in international arbitration, the TCC, the Court of Session and other dispute fora.  Stuart has also assisted in mediations and adjudications, and has acted as an Adjudicator.

Stuart has extensive international experience includes working with a variety of contract forms, including FIDIC, ICE, JCT and NEC, as well as Bespoke contracts.
